Some guidance for using the pcm / pwlis mailing list:
This mailing list is for discussion about the Pathways 2000 Care Manager or
Pathways Lab product. It is non-commercial and intended as a tool for
the users. Please follow the simple mailing list "netiquette" to make
this list more productive for us all:
- To post to the list: Send email to the address:
pcm@mediccom.org or pwlis@mediccom.org
You must be subscribed to the list to post a message to it. This configuration
of the mailing list software significantly reduces the amount of junk email
that gets redistributed to the list.
-
Congratulate in public, Criticize in private. If you
feel your discussion is not going to be productive and of interest to everyone
else, please discontinue posting to the mailing list address (simply replying
to the messages) and route your reply's to other users via private email!
You will need to go to the TO: field of your email program and remove
the mailing list address replacing it with the email of the person you
wish to reply privately to.
-
Quote only the bare minimum text. When you quote the original
message, which is a handy function that we are all used to seeing, please
cut from that quote all but the bare minimum text. It makes no sense
to reply with one sentence to a 2-3 paragraph message quoting all that
original text. A general rule is two to three lines of original text.
Its almost never acceptable to quote the message header and the footer
attached to the message you are replying to.
-
Read all the messages first, then go back and reply. If you
find a message you want to reply to, check all the email in your mailbox
first and make sure someone hasn't already made the same reply. Often
times in a mailing list, when someone asks a question, there are numerous
responses all saying the same thing because nobody has bothered to check
that someone has already addressed the issue and responded. If you
disagree with the person that posts a reply, then reply to his/her reply.
This makes the message thread look better and easier to follow the discussion.
-
Your email address is held in confidence and I will not release it to
any third party. I will not release your email address to anyone
for any reason without your permission so you will not get placed on a
spam mailing list as a result of subscribing here. In order to post
to the list, you must be subscribed to the list first. This reduces
the potential for SPAM email on the list significantly.

More about Email mailing lists:
An email mailing list consists of a list of email addresses of users
who share an interest and wish to communicate regularly via email.
The benefit of a mailing list over simple email results from the ability
of a user to subscribe or unsubscribe from the list at will. Participants
of the list don't need to keep the email addresses on their PC's address
book. They are maintained at the host site. Sending one message to
the mailing list results in that messages being duplicated by the mailing
list software to everyone who is currently subscribed. Subscription to
and from this list is managed by the above web form.
Instead of using the web form to subscribe or unsubscribe from the mailing
list, you can use an email message directed at an email address that the
list processing software watches. The email address for the list
processor here is: listserv@mediccom.org
To subscribe to the mailing list, place in the first line of the message
text
subscribe pcm your_email_address
To unsubscribe, place in the first line of the message text
unsubscribe pcm your_email_address
If you think you might have been dropped from the list inadvertently,
simply try resubscribing again via the web form or the email method.
The list software will not add your name in duplicate.
Any additional questions about the list should be directed to the list
manager: churton@mco.edu
