Federal Coordinating Centers (FCC)
- Responsiblities of the FCC include coordination of definitive medical care in the FCC's assigned area. In doing this, the FCC solicits and organizes community support services, enrolls non-federal local hospitals in the NDMS and when needed coordinates bed availability with the Armed Services Medical Regulating Office (ASMRO) when the evacuation portion of NDMS is mobilized.
- The FCC's also assist local and state authorities with the preparation of a local NDMS patient reception plan. Additionally, they plan and conduct annual NDMS exercises
- There are a total of Seventy-Two Federal Coordinating Centers of which 32 are controlled by the Department of Defence (8 US Army, 13 US Navy & 11 US Air Force) and 40 are controlled by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
